The tarot card for today is the Five of Swords. This card has some quite negative connotations, but it does fit well with the energy of today's Mercury-Jupiter conjunction.

The Five of Swords in the Rider Waite tarot deck depicts a young man gathering swords, presumably the victor after a battle. He looks very pleased with himself, while the other figures appear defeated or in despair. Typically the Five of Swords speaks of a victory, but a hollow one.

As Mercury conjuncts Jupiter today, we may well find that our words run away with us. The conjunction occurs in Leo, which can be rather an arrogant energy; it's as if the need to say something self-aggrandizing over-rides the need to be kind today, and that can be a problem.

The Five of Swords is here to warn us of the peril of such short-lived satisfactions. If you hurt someone with your words today, you'll find it difficult to make amends, because the wound may go much deeper than you realize. Rather than speaking off the cuff, on the spur of the moment, and then regretting it later, try instead to think before you speak, and to only use words which you would be happy to have directed at you.
