Today's tarot card is the Queen of Swords. What does this rather aloof Queen have to tell us about today's astrological energies, and in particular about the Mercury-Pluto opposition?

The Queen of Swords, in the Rider Waite tarot, sits raised and aloof on her dias, with her hand raised in judgement, holding her sword of state. She is a highly unemotional Queen, and as a person, refers to someone who is quite cutting by nature. As a situation, the Queen brings us the need to hold our emotions in check, and to judge a situation on its logical merits.

The suit of Swords of course links to the astrological element of air, which in turn links to the planet Mercury. Mercury is in emotional Cancer at the moment, and today opposes troublemaker Pluto in authoritarian Capricorn. During this opposition, we'll need to use all of our logic in order to stop moody Cancer vibes getting the better of us. Someone, somewhere is out to cause trouble or play power games, and during this opposition it's very easy to fall prey to such nastiness.

The message from the Queen of Swords, therefore, is to rise above the situation. Where possible, literally detach yourself from those creating the trouble. At the very least, don't allow emotional ties, past personal histories or clouded instincts to make decisions for you. You need to be quite cold and aloof now, in order to avoid falling into a trap.
