For Sunday, July 20th, 2014

Today's tarot card is The Emperor. This stern and authoritarian card is a good match for today's Moon-Saturn opposition, and suggests a day of struggle against the powers that be.

The Emperor card usually shows up when we are being told to knuckle down and to conform. In the Rider Waite tarot, the Emperor fixes readers with a stern gaze. He is seated confidently on his throne, holding his emblems of power, but he is wearing armor beneath his robes, ready to defend what he believes in. His throne appears to be made of stone, and there are mountains behind him, suggesting stability, power and experience. He is not an easy man to outsmart.

Today's Moon-Saturn opposition, however, suggests that it's a good time to challenge the Emperor's authority. To do so without reason, on a whim, would be foolhardy. However, those in authority don't always know best, and today's opposition is one of those times.

The Emperor card today is a challenge - do you have what it takes to take him on and win? What are the stakes for you personally? Why do you need to point out that his systems aren't working? Where are things going wrong?

In order to successfully use the energies of today's Moon-Saturn opposition, it's essential to challenge authority in a logical, sensible way. Come up with evidence, proof and alternative ideas. Don't simply stand and shout that it's not fair - provide a constructive, well thought through option for those who want to try things a different way.
