Daily Tarot

For Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014

The tarot card for today is the Judgement card, which is a highly appropriate fit with the climax of the cardinal Grand Cross configuration, taking place today.

The Judgement card is, as the name suggests, about judgement - judgement of others, and just as importantly, judgement of ourselves. Although the Rider Waite card is very biblical in its imagery, with bodies rising from coffins in front of a trumpet blowing angel, judgement of some kind is something most religions have in common.

The astrological Grand Cross is also about judgement in many ways, particularly the Jupiter-Pluto axis of the cross. This part of the configuration speaks of faith or religion being tested against truth. On a mini, personal level, that's what today's energies mean for many of us too. No matter what religion or faith you have - or whether you have none, today you will find yourself questioning your beliefs and principles and wondering whether maybe, just maybe, you've had it wrong all this time.

This can be a very unsettling thing. Nobody likes to have their values questioned. Many of us have become too entrenched in our viewpoints, and we've failed to adapt to new information and new circumstances. The Grand Cross, like the Judgement card, can be emotionally upsetting, but in the end this self-judgement is healthy. It allows us to move forwards with a new and more positive set of beliefs and values. For that reason, it is to be welcomed rather than feared.
