For Monday, April 21st, 2014

The tarot card for today is The Devil - quite a scary looking tarot card, but one which ultimately carries a message of empowerment and hope. How does this tie in with today's astrological aspects, and specifically the Uranus-Pluto square?

The Devil's traditional interpretation is about enslavement and dependency. In the Rider Waite version of this card, the horned god can be seen towering over two humans, who wear chains around their necks. The chains are loose, however, and could be lifted off if the humans so chose.

Today's Uranus-Pluto square is also about enslavement in some ways: today we are struggling against a truth we don't want to face. Uranus, the rebel, urges us into drastic action in order to avoid the truth which Pluto brings, but in doing so we manage to work ourselves into a frenzy. It would be simpler all round to face the unpalatable truth and move on.

In this sense, the Devil card and today's astrological aspects are singing the same song. There are tumultuous energies in the air right now, as we approach an astrological grand cross. There are no easy answers, but hiding from the truth is sure to just lead to more unhappiness. Grasp the nettle, that's the message for today.
