Daily Tarot

For Sunday, August 31st, 2014

The tarot card for today is the Six of Cups, which ties in well with the astrological energies of the day, including the Moon-Mars-Saturn conjunction, and the Moon-Jupiter square.

In the Rider Waite tarot deck, the Six of Cups depicts a happy scene - two children play in a garden surrounded by cups of flowers, in front of a manor house. The Six of Cups tends to come along when we're experiencing nostalgia or happy memories, and to remind us of the innocence of childhood. However, like all tarot cards, it has a duality of meaning, and there is another, not so positive meaning which is perhaps more pertinent to today's energies.

The deep and dark Scorpio Moon conjuncts both Mars and Saturn today - this is a push-pull situation where we feel we cannot move forwards but we must not hold back. It's intensely frustrating. Meanwhile, the Moon squares up to Jupiter, warning that that which we love can also be that which holds us back.

The message today from the Six of Cups is to not allow your own security to hold you back. We would all like to stay as innocent children, and to have no cares in the world, but it's not possible. You must be prepared to take some risks in order to move forwards, and it's the love of your family and your own love of the status quo which could be holding you back.

Today, walk away from the nostalgia with your head held high, and instead look forwards to the future.
