For Wednesday, August 27th, 2014

The tarot card for today is the Six of Pentacles. What does this card have to tell us about the day's vibe, and how does it fit with the Venus-Mars square and the Libra Moon?

In the Rider Waite tarot, the Six of Pentacles depicts a merchant giving coins to two beggars who kneel before him. In his hand, he holds a set of scales - perhaps for weighing out his money; perhaps for weighing up his own actions.

The Six of Pentacles is a card which encourages charitable giving, but it also encourages fairness and justice of all kinds. As we are asked to be kind and fair to others, it's also important to remember to be fair and kind to ourselves.

The Venus-Mars square today is a volatile and emotional aspect which can lead to confusion and inner sorrow. It's a hangover from yesterday's Venus-Saturn square, which was similarly tense. However, under the influence of the gentle Libra Moon, today is more of a healing day.

The Six of Pentacles, together with the astrological aspects of the day, encourages us to give of ourselves to others - give your time, your energy and your love, as well as or instead of your money. But when you've done that, give yourself something too. Some time, a pat on the back, some recognition that you've done a good job. Stop beating yourself up for what you have not achieved, and instead recognize how far you have come.
