The tarot card for today is the Hermit. This card has a lot to teach us, especially given today's Virgo New Moon and the Mars-Saturn conjunction.

In the Rider Waite tarot deck, the Hermit is shown as an elderly man standing alone on a snowy path. His head bowed in contemplation, he carries a lantern in which a star shines. The Hermit turns up when we would benefit from a period of withdrawal and reflection. He is a spiritual teacher too, showing us the way down this path towards enlightenment - a path which can seem very lonely at times.

Today's Virgo New Moon is a good match to the Hermit, as it brings us a fresh start when it comes to being of service to others. It's a very unselfish New Moon, and we now understand the benefits of losing our ego and, as the Hermit has done, not needing to be in the limelight all the time. Today's Mars-Saturn conjunction, however, is a very different energy. Here the push-ahead impulsiveness of Mars mixes with the wait and slow down vibe of Saturn, with confusing and frustrating results.

The Mars-Saturn conjunction is likely to cause a lot of temper because of its volatile edge and the fact that it occurs in emotional, resentful Scorpio. Here, the Hermit suggests that we withdraw into ourselves, and avoid taking that anger out on others. It's a good idea to keep yourself to yourself for much of today, since few of us will be able to resist saying things we might otherwise regret.
