Today's tarot card is the Nine of Wands, which is a good match for the potent astrological energies around today, including a Moon-Mars and Moon-Saturn opposition.

In the Rider Waite tarot, the Nine of Wands depicts a very battle-weary looking guy, with a bandaged head and a resigned look on his face. Eight staves are placed behind him, and he holds onto the ninth for support. You get the impression that he's fought long and hard to get to where he is now and that he's either protecting the eight wands behind him, or that he's fought his way through them.

The Nine of Wands tends to show up when the road has been long, and we're almost not sure if we can carry on. Everything just seems too much, and reserves of energy, enthusiasm and patience are low.

Today's Moon is in stubborn, resolute Taurus, which is good for the staying power depicted by the man on the Nine of Wands card. The Moon opposes both Mars and Saturn, which is an interesting situation - here we're forbidden from moving too fast (Mars) but we're also forbidden from standing still (Saturn). So what can we do? We can keep moving ahead, slowly and cautiously, but surely moving all the same. Now is not the time to give up. Now is the time to recognize that neither impulsive behavior nor defeatism is the right approach. We've come so far, and we're almost there - let's adopt some of the defiance resolution of the Nine of Wand figure and just keep on keeping on.
