Today's tarot card is the Nine of Pentacles. What does this card have to tell us, when seen alongside today's ingress of Venus into Cancer?

The Nine of Pentacles is a card of achievement and success. In the Rider Waite tarot, it depicts a finely dressed woman, holding a hawk - a status symbol - in a beautiful garden. Her hand rests on her pile of pentacles - clearly she isn't worried about money or about her position in life.

As Venus enters Cancer, most of us will also experience a renewed sense of material wellbeing, and security at home. This may be fleeting or short-lived, given the current economic climate, but it will be felt, if only in an ethereal, hopeful way.

However, the volatile Aries Moon conjuncts Uranus and opposes Mars today, suggesting the danger of hasty action. In our complacency, we may start to feel a false sense of security. Choosing to take a risk is not a good idea today, lest you lose all that you've worked so hard to achieve. The woman on the Nine of Pentacles is from a medieval era, when security was far from certain. What she has today, she could lose tomorrow - and so could you.

The message from the Nine of Pentacles today is to enjoy the fruits of your success, but to remain committed to working hard and building on your security, rather than taking risks with it.
